Daniel D. Clifford

DANVERS- Daniel D. “Capt.” Clifford, 70, went home to God on October 29, 2022. He was the husband of Linda (LaRocca) Clifford with whom he just celebrated 40 years of marriage on September 11th.
He was born in Lynn on June 22, 1952, the son of the late Francis and Catherine (Dunn) Clifford. He was raised and educated in Peabody and Gloucester and graduated from Saint Peter’s High School in 1970.
Dan retired as Captain from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department in 2003. Beginning his career in 1977, he served in Salem, Lawrence and Middleton. Dan was also a private pilot for several years, earning him the nickname “Wings.” He enjoyed flying and took many friends and family on pleasure flights; one flight serving to be significant was his first date with Linda.
He was an avid sports fan, loved the outdoors and was a lawn enthusiast. He loved cookouts with friends and family, where his favorite meal—the hot dog—was always on the menu. Above all, was his love for his family, he was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather. He cherished time spent with the extended Clifford and LaRocca families.
He was a dedicated member of the “Scooby Squad” at John George Park, where he and his late beloved dog, Milo, would gather and walk and share time with fellow canines and their human companions.
He was the father of Paul Clifford and his wife, Lauren of Fitchburg and the late Brittany Clifford, grandfather of Ethan Beausoliel and Lilly Clifford, brother of Ann Fellows and her husband Garry of Middleton and the late F. Michael Clifford, brother-in-law of Vickie Clifford of Peabody, and cousin and uncle to many.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Monday, November 7, 2022, in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visitation will be held from 3-6PM on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dan’s name to Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
My deepest sympathies to family and friends for such a sad loss. I have so many memories I will cherish forever. Rest easy In Peace Danny.
