I met Dave when I started working at Crosby’s when I was 16. What an amazing guy! I grew up in that company and have so much respect for what a great boss, friend, husband and father I knew Dave to be. My heart is broken. He will be missed!
It was my pleasure to meet David through Little League. Immediately, it was apparent that he took great joy in watching all of the children on the field. My lasting memory will be Dave waving the kids over after a big win for ice cream from the snack bar, motorcycle helmet in hand, smile on his face. I’m heartbroken to hear of his passing. Every time I think of Little League, I will forever remember his the joy you could see on his face along the foul line as he watched the team.
It was my pleasure to coach Dave’s kids for the past two season is Little League. I hope that Dave can rest in peace knowing that he and Lesley have given Ryley and Ben all of the tools they need to be successful in their lives. Just like their parents, they are polite, respectful, smart, and funny. When I think of Dave in the future, the one image that I will forever remember is the smile that came across his face every time he watched his kids play baseball. No matter how sick he may have been feeling, he didn’t let anybody know…and it didn’t matter…he was there…at every game, at every practice, and ALWAYS with that infectious smile. I know he will continue to be there for them as they grow up.
My sincere sympathy go out to the Crosby family. I work at the Hamilton store which Dave ran. He was such a caring man and talked to you like a friend as well as your boss. We all will miss him deeply. Take care everyone may God be with you in this tough time Linda M. Brown
I am shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Dave, My heart goes out to you Lesley, Ben and Ryley. I haven’t seen you all in quite a while but always felt close seeing photos of the kids, Dave and that big beautiful dog on facebook.. It doesn’t seem that long ago that we saw each other often. Dave gave me the opportunity to work at the store and was supportive in my career choices.I was honored to be part of your wonderful wedding and wish I hadn’t been such a stranger as of late, Les I don’t know what to say so I will just say I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved partner in life and will pray for you and the family to heal as best as you can. All my heartfelt sympathy and love to you and yours. Kim

I worked for Dave at Crosby’s when while I was in college (early 1990s). I worked closely with him for about 4 years. Dave was a fantastic person, one of a kind and I’ll always remember him being so upbeat and positive. He taught me a lot about managing people. He was a natural at it. Dave was very smart about his business and the people who worked for him really respected and liked Dave. He was a great guy and a good friend.
R.I.P Dave – you hired me at the young age of 14 and helped me grow into a business state of mind. You gave me The opportunity to learn every department in your store. Ive take those skills I’ve learned from you and I apply them to my everyday living.
You were also a great friend . There were times you caught me in the brake room doing my homework and you would take the time to make sure it was right .
I remember one day in particular I was having a hard time with a science project/idea and You sat with me for a half hour or so before my shift started and gave me a kick start on it….. It was my first project I got a A on ….
My family sends their condolences to the Croabys family

I am so sorry for your loss…sending my prayers to the entire Crosby family.
I, too, met David through Little League, though years earlier than some. He happened to be on the arch rival team of the team I coached with my Dad. His Senior Little League team, the 1980 Giants was coached by the late, great Micheal Corbett. The memories are so many and so clear still 35 years later.
My Dad managed the All Star team that year…what a talented team it was was; Jeff Phinney, Brian Foster, and so many others. My Dad chose David, if I remember right, to pitch the first game…I remember my Dad thinking of him as a very crafty lefty with outstanding control and great tailing movement on his fastball. They won that game and a few more. Then the following year with Michael Corbett as Manager, I coached David in the very first year of the North Shore Big League Division of Little League for 16 to 18 year olds. David was very talented and fierce competitor who also showed great sportsmanship.
RIP David, and though I never met your family, my prayers to them.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Crosby family. I have never worked for a more genuine, compassionate human being than Dave Crosby. Despite being the President of the company Dave was never above rolling up his sleeves and mixing it up with us during hectic times. His selfless character is what inspired us to give our best in work and in life every day. His greetings were always earnest, and his inquiries about the goings on in our lives were sincere and heartfelt. It has been beyond a pleasure to work for this man. Thank you, Dave. May you rest in peace.

Dave was a big supporter of mine when I moved from Canal St. as a cashier to Essex St. as a manager. Dave always had a kind word, was always supportive and had an infectious, great attitude. Although I fell out of touch after leaving Crosby’s in the early ’90s, I am a better person for having known him. My heart goes out to his family at this very difficult time.

I attended high school with Dave and always remember him with a smile on his face, he never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Just a genuine nice guy. My condolences to his family.
My husband Harry has worked with Dave and at Crosby’s for over 30 years. I too worked there briefly in the 90’s. The respect and admiration we have for the Crosby family cannot be described adequately. You are wonderful people who touch so many lives. Our hearts are heavy at your loss. We ran into Dave, Lesley and the kids while going apple picking a few years back. We smiled watching them, as our kids were older. Such a fun and loving family. I know he will be deeply missed at Crosby’s because he was such an amazing boss, co-worker and friend. However, nothing compares to the loss that will be felt at the homes of his family members. God bless you all. I hope and pray that the memories that cause you tears today, will someday bring smiles.
For several years, I had the pleasure of working with Dave at Crosby’s, along with the rest of the Cameron siblings. Dave was always a kind, professional, and calm manager. We always had a great time at all the Crosby events, especially the annual Halloween parties! He was a wonderful person who will be missed by many! Please accept my sincere condolences on this devastating loss.

I grew up with David in our old neighborhood. I lived on Walter Road. David used to come over to my house and climb the tree in my front yard and play wiffle ball in the back yard . He was such an important person in my childhood. We graduated together in 1983. He was always so kind and funny. My prayers go out to David’s whole family. He was taken too soon.

David was a kind and gentle man who was loved and respected by everyone he came in contact with. My sincere condolences go out to his family at this very difficult time.
Many years ago, in the Essex st. days it was thanksgiving time and I was the meat manager at the time. We were running low on turkeys so David and I decided to take a road trip to the Market Basket on highland ave. in Salem.Dave wanted to drive so we both hopped into his white Camaro and proceeded at almost 100 miles an hour.
I was freaking out,and Dave just smiled and said”WHAT” we both laughed.
Needless to say the right home was a little slower,I told him we had precious cargo in the back seat, Turkeys.
The world will not know a more compassionate and kinder human being than David Crosby. How he loved his family, wife Lesley and adored his children Ben and Ryley. Dave never had much to say about himself and was always more concerned about others than himself. He and the Crosby family have helped so many people throughout the years. Their kindness is well known throughout the communities they serve. However what is truly commendable is all the wonderful things they have done that very few people even know about. Jim and Pat and all the Crosby siblings, I share your grief and broken hearts. Lesley, Ben and Ryley you are what David lived for and fought so hard to be around these last and difficult months. The world is a better place today because of David and I hope his family finds comfort in all of the goodness David achieved in his short life and that he looking down over us.
Rest in peace David and you truly deserve in being in a better place.

Dave always enjoyed the homemade baked goods I would bring to work to share with my coworkers. His favorite were my chocolate chip cookies. He was so kind. He always took time to say hello and chat for a few minutes. He had nothing but kind words for everyone. A wonderful person all around. He will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as they mourn the loss of this wonderful man. Rest in peace. Watch over your beautiful children and continue to guide them as an angel now.
David Crosby. I worked and saw you many times at Crosby’s Market Concord over 18 yrs of service. The last I saw you was about 3 yrs ago and had learned of your struggle. My warmest sympathies to your family. May Gods Light Shine Upon You. Rest Now. You will be missed by all.

DHS 1983: The ‘Dweebs’ admired him, the ‘Jocks’ respected him, the ‘Burnouts’ thought he was cool, and the girls wanted to be with him. In typical David fashion, he shared his kind friendship with all of them.
It is a privilege to be able to call him a friend – RIP my friend.
