PEABODY- David J. Wilson, 91, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on February 10, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Jacquline (Jones) Wilson with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Peabody on August 22, 1932, he was the son of the late David and Julia (Petkewich) Wilson. David was raised in Peabody and graduated from Saint Mary High School in Lynn. David served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He received his bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College. David had a long career as a civil engineer. He had worked with the Massachusetts Highway Department for 38 years and retired as the assistant commissioner. He also consulted for C & C Engineering for 12 years. David was an avid Celtics fan and a longtime season ticket holder. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially in his second home in New Brunswick, Canada. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Monica and Robert Gaudet of Peabody, his son David J. Wilson, Jr. of Lynn and two grandsons, Michael and Gus Gaudet. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Thursday, February 15, 2024 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in David’s name to the Kaplan Family Hospice House c/o 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923.

  2. I worked with Dave for several years at Mass. DPW. A classy guy with a dry wit, ever-present twinkle in his eye and an unflappable demeanor…and a sharp dresser. He knew a lot and taught me a lot. Condolences to his family.
