David M. Ostrom

PEABODY- David M. Ostrom, 81, passed away on July 22, 2018, in Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of Janice (Montgomery) Ostrom, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
Born in Bronxville, New York on June 6, 1937, he was the son of the late John and Edith (Waje) Ostrom. He was raised and educated in Chappaqua, NY and received his bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College. David’s work career as a food buyer spanned many decades in the food industry, including S.S. Pierce and Kraft. He lived in Clifton Park, NY and Peabody for most of his life; for the last 8 years, he resided at Brooksby Village, where he was very actively involved in their community. David was a member of the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church in NY, as well as the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Danvers. Regardless of where David resided, he was always an active outdoorsman. He had been a longtime ski patrolman, enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail, going camping, and canoeing.
In addition to his wife, Janice, David is survived by his children, Sarah Ostrom of West Warwick, RI, Kristin Allen and her husband, Andrew of Danvers, Phillip Collins of CT, and Holly Troiano and her husband, Anthony of Housatonic, MA; his sister, Linda Goodwin of TN; eight grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel Allen, Olivia Ellis, Cameron and McKensie Collins, Heather DelSodato and Angela and Kevin Troiano, and a great grandson, Benjamin. He was predeceased by his sister, Sunny Lloyd-Erickson.
His Funeral Service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. Visiting hours are from 4-7PM on Friday, July 27, 2018 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David’s name to Brooksby Village Scholarship Fund, Attn: Elizabeth Macomber, 200 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody, MA, 01960 or the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
