Delbert Elliot Porter

Delbert Elliot Porter, 86, died peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Eleanor (Walsh) Porter, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Born on Sept. 26, 1924 in Danvers, he was the son of the late Lorrence and Bernice (Russell) Porter. Delbert was a lifelong resident of Danvers. He was employed with the Town of Lynnfield for over forty years with the tree department. Delbert also owned and operator Porter Tree Service for many years. He was a past member of the Elks in Wakefield. Besides his wife Eleanor, he is survived by two sons, Lorrence and James Porter both of Danvers, three daughters and two sons-in-law, E. Louise and Jorgen Forsaker of Danvers, Carol Vaccaro and Steven, Sr. of Beverly and Debra Riley of Danvers, a daughter-in-law Kathie Porter, siblings, Russell Porter of FL and Norma L’Abbe of Merrimack, MA, 10 grandchildren, Steven T. Vaccaro, Jr. and Lyndsi Vaccaro; Christopher, Jr. and Kerin Riley; Daniel Griffin, Derek Porter, Emily Sullivan and Devin Trites, Elysa and Benjamin Porter, a great granddaughter Lily Sullivan and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Richard Porter. A Funeral Service will be held at 7PM on Thurs., April 14, 2011 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Vst. hrs will be held on Thurs. prior to the service from 4PM-6:45PM.
