Delmer Edward Runnals, Sr., 89, died Monday, December 15, 2009. He was the husband of the late Lorraine L. (Caron) Runnals, with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage. Born in New Hampshire on June 29, 1920, he was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School. A Danvers resident for many years, Mr. Runnals served proudly for 28 years in the US Army and was the recipient of the Silver Star. He had recently been the recipient of a trip to Washington, DC to visit the WWII memorial. A former member of the Knights of Columbus, Thomas E. Power Council #1505, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City, GA, where he had resided for several years. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Nancy and Neil Morrissey of Chandler, AZ, Arlene and George Green of Middletown, NY, Suzanne and J.W. Martinez of Denver, CO, Bruce and Sharron Runnals of Peachtree City, GA, Donald and Ursula Runnals of Lafayette, CA, Richard and Eve Runnals of Awendaw, SC, Delmer and Tara Runnals Jr. of Danvers, and Joseph and Carrie Runnals of Peachtree City, GA, 19 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Sq. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Runnals’ name may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, PO Box 2222, Peachtree City, GA 30269.

  1. I AM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. MAY HE REST IN PEACE….I THINK I WORKED FOR HIM IN 1956 AS A CARPENTERS APPRENTICE DOING ROOFWORK CONVERSIONS. I WAS RAISED ON THE ISLAND AND MR HUMPHREYS THE SCHOOL TEACHER REFERED ME TO HIM….HE TAUGHT ME TO WORK HARD AND LEARN EACH DAY OF MY LIFE.
