Donald R. Masse, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 11, 2011 at Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Janet (Kuell) Masse with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Born in Danvers, MA on Dec. 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Leon and Elodia (Morin) Masse. Donald served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He had been employed as a sales manager with Reid Brothers and Post Machinery. He was a past president of the Danvers Fish and Game Club, Instructor for The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of State Police, Certified Educator for The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Fisheries, Wildlife & Environmental Law, and an active member of The Gun Owner Action League, He is survived by four children, Scott Masse and his wife Hope of Beverly, Debbie Marticio and her husband Mike of Danvers, Alan Masse and his wife Raye of NH, and Sandi Valliere and her husband Corey of NH, a sister Doris McLean, seven grandchildren, Judith Lohmar, Janet Drawny, Kyle Arnold, Andrew Hounsome, Lisa Mahoney, Daniel and Monique Chouniard, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven siblings. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Wed, June 15, 2011 in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Vst. Hrs are Tues. from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Donald’s name to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105
