Donald W. Broome, 89, a longtime Beverly resident, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013. He was the loving husband of Olive (Atkins) (Martin) Broome, with whom he shared over thirty years of marriage. Born in Beverly on March 8, 1923, he was the son of the late John and Edna (Hubbard) Broome. He was raised and educated in Beverly, graduating from Beverly High School and later graduated from Boston University. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII. For many years, he was employed as an accountant with A.C. Lawrence. He was a member of the Essex Lodge, A.F. & A.M. in Salem. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepson, Dana K. Martin and his wife Marie of Danvers, three grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher, and Kayla Martin, all of Danvers, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie. His Funeral Service will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-6PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, PO Box 2076, Danvers, MA 01923.
