Dorothy A. Moriarty
July 31, 1921 ~ August 31, 2023
Dorothy A. (Ogasian) Moriarty, of Danvers, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles F. Moriarty.
Born in Salem on July 31, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Gladys (Poor) Ogasian. She was raised and educated in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1939. She had a long career as a telephone operator, first with Bell Telephone and later at Lechmere, until her retirement.
Dottie lived a long and fulfilling life, yet never seemed to age; celebrating her 39th birthday year after year. Her secrets to longevity were a positive attitude, her faith, a wonderful sense of humor, and a well rounded social life, which included daily lunch dates, followed by group gatherings at the Liberty Tree mall. More recently, friends and neighbors joined her to sit in folding chairs on her front lawn, sharing conversation and laughter.
Above all, Dottie treasured time spent with family; her love and support knew no bounds. She is greatly missed!
Dottie will be remembered for her youthful spirit, charming personality, contagious smile, and an ability to make friends wherever her adventures would take her.
She is survived by her daughter, Tricia Rosenlund of Danvers, and a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Lisa Moriarty of Sewell, NJ; her granddaughters Kristen Scanlon and husband, Patrick, and Meghan Moriarty; her great grandchildren, Charlie and Maddy. She also leaves her lifelong friend, Eleanor “Parky” Costello. She was predeceased by her siblings, Paul and John Ogasian and Eleanor Pietrini.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Friday, September 8, 2023 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923. Online directions and condolences are available at www.LyonsFuneral.com.

Dear Trish,
I was so sorry to learn of the passing of your lovely mother. She was such a sweet and gracious lady and I never saw her without a welcoming smile on her face whenever I bumped into her.
It was a pleasure for me to have known her even though briefly. She was the kind of person that made one feel so good. She and your dad were very special people and I am sincerely happy I had the opportunity to have known both of them.
Peace and love!
Myrna Fearer

Dottie was not just my neighbor ,she was my dearest friend . We all know when covid hit our lives all changed . Dottie loved her game shows .She would watch till 2:30 and then out front she went . One by one all her wonderful friends would pull up or walk over to visit for the afternoon . What fun we had ! She made so many new friends by people just walking by who would stop and chat with her . She was so kind and loving ! She always told Dave and I we were like her second daughter and her son ! Love and miss you ! Kelly & Dave l
I met Dotty with the “girls” at the LTM in 1997. I was a 15 year old door greeter. Simultaneously, I had met Charlie, another “mall walker”, who would stop & talk with me. After THREE years, while chatting with Dottie & the girls at Zales, Charlie walked up and nudged her arm…she turns and says “what are YOU doing here?!?” To which I replied, “You know each other?!?!?!?”
She says “ YES, he’s my husband!!!”
What a fond memory. Dottie & Charlie were real life angels in my life. I feel honored to have known both of them separately, AND together 🥰🙏💕. Missing you so much Dottie.
Love, Jessica
