Eileen G. Tinkham
April 24, 1935 ~ August 30, 2023
Eileen G. (Cotter) Tinkham, 88, of Danvers, passed away on August 30, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Wayne J. Tinkham with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Methuen on April 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William and Lena (Evans) Cotter. She was raised in Middleton and educated in Danvers where she graduated from Holten High School in 1954. Prior to meeting her husband, Wayne, Eileen developed lifelong friendships working at the former Ideal Baby Shoe Factory. Later, while raising her family, Eileen worked in the curtain department of the former Ann & Hope Department Store.
Eileen was an avid reader and loved to listen to music, especially her favorite, Elvis. Eileen was fun loving and enjoyed partaking in a good game of gin rummy, playing sorry with her grandkids and participating in bingo night where she would simultaneously manage up to 15 cards. Above all else Eileen found joy through time spent with her family, some of her favorite memories were made during family camping trips to Salisbury beach. Eileen was a nurturing mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always lit up when she had the opportunity to hold a baby. Those that knew and loved Eileen will fondly remember her sharp witted sense of humor, her contagious laugh and her kindness to all.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Tinkham and his wife, Lisa of Danvers, Brenda Mazzotti and her husband, Robert of Newburyport, David Tinkham and his wife, Tammy of Danvers and Kathy McCully and her husband, John of Derry, NH, her grandchildren, Amanda, Chris, Robert, Alicia, Alexis, Jessica, Jacob and Kyle and her great grandchildren, Jack, Carson, Nora, Skylar and Camden, her brother William Cotter of Irmo, SC, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Wayne Tinkham, son James Tinkham and her siblings, Helen Gage and Daniel Cotter.
Visitation will be held from 4-6:45PM on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 with a funeral service to follow at 7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Her committal service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, September 7, 2023 in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. I have only known Eileen for a very short time being a aide for her. She was a very nice woman and had such a beautiful smile . We will all miss you.

Eileen was always very nice to me growing up. Her sister Helen helped raise me when I was a kid. We used to go to her spot on Salisbury beach on the weekends and I thought I was on some magical island as a child. We joke around quite a bit over the years when she would come to visit Helen. Great sense of humor and will be missed greatly by all that loved her.

When I was a teenager she took me in and kept me safe in a really bad time in my life. I will always love her and think of my auntie Eileen.
