To the family of Uncle Pappy – I just found his obit, having had my Christmas card returned to me last week. I didn’t realize he has passed so I went online.
My mother met Aunt Ruth probably 60 years ago. Her and my Dad became great friends of Aunt Ruth and Uncle Pappy. They were Jackie and Charlie Johnson. I’m Kim, and remember the fantastic New Year’s Day parties they threw. that was their wedding anniversary!
When I was still a kid I remember a day when Craig and his wife, and their very young daughter were visiting. That child was adorable! I also recall when Aunt Ruth suffered her first aneurism, and my Mom, having been a speech therapist, had tried so hard to work with her.
I remember Uncle Pappy at those New Year’s Day parties, sitting in the back room watching sports, while also needing to keep all of the fireplaces going. He was so friendly, and loving towards me as a kid! I was amazed at how strong he continued to be after retirement, and hearing of his trips to the Y at his 90th birthday party. That was a wonderful party.
My dad passed in 1993, and my Mom, Jackie, just this past October.
Regards,
Kim Johnson (and brother Chip)
