Elizabeth C. (Demmons) Lyons, 74, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Beverly Hospital. She was the loving wife of John L. Lyons, with whom she shared fifty years of marriage. Born in Peabody on Aug. 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Stewart) Demmons. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a lifelong Danvers resident. Liz was employed as a waitress for many years at several area restaurants, including Romie’s Oyster House, Spaulding’s, and the Salem Country Club. She retired after working at Betty Ann’s Sub Shop for many years. A loving wife and mother, she was dedicated to her grandchildren. Liz had a wonderful sense of humor and her generous spirit led her to opening her house to all. She enjoyed baking, trips to Foxwoods, and Keno. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Lyons & Briane Ritchie of Bellingham, Donna & Ralph Newhall of Danvers, Deborah & Tim Wilson of Warner, NH, Nancy Lyons of Danvers, and John P. Lyons of No. Berwick, her grandchildren, Francis Ritchie & Patience Webb, Taylor and Erin Newhall, Levi and Bella Wilson, and Anthony Panciocco, one great grandson, Abel Ritchie, her siblings, Doris Lundquist of KY, Donald and Harold Demmons and Dorothy Curtis, all of Danvers, many nieces and nephews and a loving extended family. She was predeceased by her siblings John and Robert Demmons, Joyce Hussey, and Margaret Moore. Her Funeral Service will be Sunday, August 4, 2013 at noon in Maple Street Congregational Church, 90 Maple St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Saturday from 3-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Donations in Liz’s memory may be made to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, PO Box 2076, Danvers, MA 01923.

  4. Dear John and Family, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Liz’ passing. She was a wonderful person, and I have many fond memories of her, including the time that she came to New York with my mother and Sandra at Christmas time to see the lights and displays.
