Ermenia M. (Villa) Maher, 84, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Robert Maher Sr., with whom she shared over forty years of marriage. Born in Peabody on Nov. 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Stephanie (Delpero) Villa. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. A Danvers resident for many years, she had resided in Topsfield for over twenty years. Mrs. Maher was employed for many years by the Town of Danvers as a clerk in the Assessor’s Office. For several years she was also employed by Winfrey’s Chocolates of Rowley. A communicant of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Mrs. Maher enjoyed traveling, especially her visits with relatives in Italy. She is survived by her children, Robin O’Donnell and her husband Robert of Peabody, Debbie Barrow and her husband Ken of Wenham, Robert Maher Jr. and his wife Mary Alice of Byfield, and John Maher and his wife Leigh of New Britain, CT, her grandchildren, Daniel, John, Corey, and Kellyn Maher and George and Chris Morfis, three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Lorraine Pelletier of Peabody. She was predeceased by a brother, Mario Villa. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Mar. 2, 2010 at 10AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, Park St., Topsfield. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. As requested, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Maher’s name may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Pl., 6th fl., Brookline, MA 02445. Arrangements are by C.R.
