Ethelyn F. “Dot” (Bruce) Brown, 75, passed away on February 26, 2023 at Beverly Hospital with her family by her side following a brief battle with complications from cancer. She was the devoted wife of Robert J. “Coach” Brown for more than 53 years. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Adelbert and Bertha (Stewart) Bruce and step-daughter of the late Geraldine Bruce. Dot was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1965 and the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1968. For forty-two years, until her retirement, Dot had been a registered nurse at Beverly Hospital, Lynn Hospital, and Union Hospital specializing in oncology and ICU supervision. She had been a Danvers resident for fifty years. Dot loved her annual trips to Walt Disney World—it was her happy place. She enjoyed time spent at York Beach, Maine and Lake George, New York. She also enjoyed swimming, knitting, cribbage, and binge-watching Law & Order and NCIS on TV. Dot was a big fan of Boston sports, especially the Patriots and Bruins. She was the hostess for every holiday gathering as well as birthday celebrations, anniversaries, and summer pool parties. She was an accomplished cook and baker. In earlier years, she served as a Girl Scout Leader. Dot adored and pampered her furry companions, rescue dogs Sandy and Lady. In addition to her beloved husband, Bob, she is survived by her children, Kelli Cloyd and her husband Shawn of Beverly, Kevin Brown and his companion Kim Zanella Framingham, and Eric Brown of Danvers, six grandchildren, Justin and Jeremy Cloyd and Eliana, Samuel, Alexander, and Libby Brown. She was proud of their academic and athletic accomplishments. Also surviving Dot are her brother, William Bruce and his wife Arlene of Beverly, sister-in-law, Linda Brown of Wenham and daughter-in-law, Naomi Brown of Beverly, as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, and her lifelong friend Nancy (Walker) Rogers. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Walter Orechia and brother-in-law, David Brown. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4-7PMin the funeral home.
