Frances Phillips

Frances L. Phillips, 101, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Arthur P. Phillips. Born in Chelsea in 1912, she was the wife of the late Karol and Mary (Splitz) Sagan, she was raised and educated in Danvers and was a longtime Boxford resident. Mrs. Phillips loved handcrafts. She enjoyed decoupage and knitting, and her exquisite needlepoint awarded her numerous blue ribbons and best in show for six consecutive years at the Topsfield Fair. She was a member of the Friendship Club, the Great Group at Four Mile Village, and the West Boxford Grange #140 for more than seventy years. She was an avid gardener. She is survived by two daughters, Helen L. Phillips and Katherine Phillips, both of Boxford, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Helen Yacovitch and Henry and Walter Sagan. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances’ name may be made to the Boxford Council on Aging, 4 Middleton Rd., Boxford, MA 01921, or Care Demensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
