Francis J. Higgins, 75, died Friday, March 4, 2011 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a brief illness. Born on Nov. 5, 1935, he was raised and educated in Newton. He served in the U.S. Army after his schooling and was a Danvers resident for many years before relocating to Clearwater, Florida several years ago. Mr. Higgins had been employed for many years in the repair department at the Sears Service Center in Peabody. He was a loving father and devoted grandfather. He is survived by two daughter, Mary Lee McMenemy and her fiancé Atom Eynon of Hampton, NH and Michelle Carriere of North Andover, two brothers, Thomas and James Higgins of Florida, 3 grandchildren, Savannah McMenemy, and Ashley and Jeremy Carriere, his former wife, Mary (Reagan) Higgins of Danvers, and many dear friends in Florida. He was predeceased by a son, Mark Higgins. His Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Monday evening from 6-8PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
Mary Lee and Michelle, We are so very sorry for your loss. Both Kevin and I have some very fond memories of your father, especially back on Linwood Ave. with Nana Sadie. He was a terrific man. May your memories comfort you in the days ahead. Kevin & Patty
