Francis Xavier Farmer

DANVERS-Francis X. (Frank) Farmer, 95, passed away with family by his side on November 12, 2022. He was the son of the late Joseph P. and Genevieve M. (Finnegan) Farmer and was born February 18th, 1927, in Lynn, MA. An avid baseball fan from an early age, Frank enjoyed playing the game in Lynn’s Kiley Park with his brothers Joseph and Raymond who predecease him.
Frank was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School Class of 1944 and then promptly entered the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving as a Pharmacist Mate caring for wounded Naval and Marine personnel at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital’s Blind Unit. After his discharge, Frank attended and graduated from Catholic University in Washington D.C., earning a degree in Electrical Engineering.
On June 26th, 1954, Frank married the love of his life, the late Helen M. (Gannon) Farmer with whom he spent 67 years of marriage. Together they loved to dance, play cards, spend summers at the Manchester Bath & Tennis Club with dear friends, travel and cruise together to Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean, golf at the Wenham Country Club, and always cheer on the local sports teams with great passion.
Frank was a former President of the Danvers Lions Club and was active for years in various roles with the Danvers American Little League. He spent 35 years with Raytheon Missile System Division in Andover, MA before retiring and then enjoying 26 winters in Northport Florida with his wife Helen, who like Frank loved playing golf and bridge.
He was the father of 6 children, the late Denise A. Farmer of Danvers, Michael J. Farmer of Danvers, Mark F. Farmer and Beth Owens of Ijamsville, MD, John P. Farmer and his wife Susan M. of Gloucester, Brian J. Farmer and wife Anne M. of Danvers/Lakeside CA, and Maryellen (Farmer) Feeley and her husband Edmund J. of Greenwich, CT.
Frank was a doting Grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Jay P. Farmer and his wife Carys of New Orleans, LA, Joan K. Farmer of Danvers, Meghan Farmer and her fiancé Devin Kelly of New York City, Caroline M. Feeley of Boston, MA, Nathan F. Farmer and his fiancé Jacqueleen L. Morin of Arlington, VA, Ellen (Feeley) Phillips and her husband Mark of New York City, Justin G. Farmer and his wife Emily of Sommerville, MA, Sarah S. Farmer of Denver, CO, Neal P. Farmer of Charlottesville, VA, Katherine G. Feeley and her fiancé Danny Winschuh of San Francisco, CA, and Patrick F. Feeley of Columbus, OH.
A wake will be held at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers, on Sunday November 27th from 3-6 PM, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, November 28th at Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory can be made to the Francis X.
