Fred R. Taubner

Fred R. Taubner, 84, died unexpectedly while working in his garden on Friday, July 9, 2010. He was the loving husband of Mary Rose (Bode) Taubner, with whom he shared nearly 55 years of marriage. Born in Clinton on Jan. 18, 1926, he was the son of the late Fred W. and Rachel (Lafrance) Taubner. He was raised and educated in Clinton and was a graduate of Clinton High School. After serving honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII, Mr. Taubner graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Mr. Taubner was employed for over thirty-five years at GTE-Sylvania as a chemical engineer. He held many patents for the coating process on fluorescent lamps. He was also a a member of the Sylvania Quarter Century Club. A Danvers resident for more than fifty years, he enjoyed spending time working with computers and in his garden. He was an avid sports fan with a particular affinity for the Red Sox. He was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church. In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter, Diane Taubner and her husband Scott Randall of Concord, a sister, Janice Dent of Kingston, NY, and two grandchildren, Theo and Ivy Randall His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 11AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 10-10:45am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Taubner’s name may be made to :Gaining Ground, P. O.
