Freeman Chase, Jr., 87, a longtime Danvers resident, died Tuesday evening, April 22, 2014. Born in Arlington on July 18, 1926, he was the son of the late Freeman and Edna (Moore) Chase. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School. Mr. Chase served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Chase was employed in the banking industry for many years. He was a vice-president at the former Danvers National Bank and a founder of the former Colonial National Bank. A member of the Amity-Mosaic Lodge in Danvers, he enjoyed gardening and antique cars. He is survived by a daughter, Jill Watts and her husband Jim of Danvers, two grandchildren, Richard “Sully” Watts and Ali Mae Watts, both of Danvers, and four sisters, Edna Barrowclough of Danvers, Edith Farnham of Middleton, Phyllis Bolten of Virginia, and Janet Brown of New Hampshire. He also leaves a beloved friend, Cindy Pare of New Hampshire. His Funeral Service will be Friday, April 25, 2014 at 6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours before the service from 4-6PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA 02472.
