G. Richard Davis, 76, died early Saturday morning, May 14, 2011 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Martha (Davenport) Davis, with whom he shared fifty-four years of marriage. Born in New York on Sept. 29, 1929, he was the son of the late Gordon and Irene (Gregory) Davis. He was raised and educated in New York and Maine and was a graduate of York High School. Mr. Davis attended the Boston Architectural Center and was a graduate of the Wentworth Institute in Boston. Mr. Davis owned and operated his own commercial architecture firm, Davis & Marks, which later became Davis & Associates, for many years. A resident of Topsfield for nearly fifty years, he enjoyed working outside and spending time in the home he built and designed in Shelburne. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Lisa Louzier and her companion Sol Fedder of Kennebunkport, ME, Leonard Davis and his wife Nancy of Hamilton, Lawrence Davis and his wife Laura of Danvers, Russell Davis and his wife Sara of Hillsborough, NJ, and Glenn Davis and his wife Robin of South Hadley, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, two sisters, Faith Hatter and Diane Vachon, both of Maine, and several nieces and nephews. As requested, funeral services are private and there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Davis’ name may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
Dear Grandpa, Your smile will surely be missed. I will always treasure the stories you shared with me and my brothers at the Dream House. The will make us laugh for many years to come. Im comforted that you are safe now. Love Your Granddaughter, Avalon <3
