Gary E. Cook

Gary E. Cook, 81, a long-time resident of Danvers, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Concord, Mass on July 18, 1942, he was the son of the late John A. Cook and Constance Elliott Cook.
Raised and educated in Lynn, Gary went on to serve our country with distinction in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967. Following active duty, he continued his commitment to service with the U.S. Army Reserves.
Gary was a dedicated employee of the Salem News for many years. He also had the pleasure of working at the A&P grocery store in Beverly, where he formed lasting connections with both colleagues and customers.
A devoted husband, Gary shared 41 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Anne L. (Bertolucci) Cook of Danvers. The tapestry of Gary's life is woven with threads of love, dedication, and service, and he will be deeply missed by Anne, as well as his numerous family members and friends.
In keeping with Gary's wishes, funeral services will be private.

I met Gary in 1954 when we began junior high school together. I did not see too much of him through the years but I was always impressed by his gentle, thoughtful kindness.
