DANVERS- Gary P.J. Martin, 64, passed away on December 13, 2015 at home, following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Joan Lavoie Martin with whom they spent 42 years of marriage. Born in Somerville on June 21, 1951, he was the son of the late Donald and Helen (Geleas) Martin. Gary was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Danvers High School in 1969. He had been a member of the Laborers Union, Local 22. Gary enjoyed entertaining in his home, especially to have friends and family over for a swim in the pool. He was an avid New England sports fan. Gary was surrounded with wonderful friends and family. He had had much love and support from the medical community. His wishes were that when you think of him, remember a happy memory, and have a shot of Blackberry. In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Tanzella of Danvers and his son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Jodi Martin of Danvers, a sister, Paula Martin Privé of Hampton, NH, two grandchildren, Kayla and Greyson and a great grandson, Scott. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Martin, Jr. Gary’s wishes were that all funeral services be held privately. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Gary’s name to the Lynda J.   5. i know there will always be a Red Sox fan in Heaven ! He loved to share the stories of Fenway . Never forget the day he asked me to go to a game with him. He brought some brownies for the old timer at the Fenway Park parking lot. Got inside called John Henry go to guy. He told the usher to put us at field level seats. He called a guy named Butch that ran the concession. He told Gary there are som beers for us .
    Gary just had a way about him! People loved him.

So Sorry for the Martin Family, I worked at Fenway for the entire reconstruction as an employee of the Boston Red Sox, Myself and several other stadium employees immediately immediately bonded with Gary. He was a true fan of the game, and a genuine person. I feel honored that I was able to let Gary use my tickets any time he wished, including a very memorable game with his brother Don. Gary was so happy that he could make that happen. I am sure that he and his brother are up their wishing the Red Sox another Championship Year. Will miss ya Gary…Tommy Barnard Jr.
