DANVERS - Gayle M. (Morissette) Sheppard, 81, of Danvers, MA, formerly of South Windsor, CT, Gloucester, MA and Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully at Brightview Senior Living on November 27, 2023, surrounded by her devoted daughters. She was the loving wife of the late Donald E. Sheppard for 57 years. Born in Hartford, CT on May 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Nellie (Piencykoski) Morissette. Gayle was raised and educated in Connecticut, graduating from Hartford Public High School and the University of Connecticut. She had a long career as an accountant. She was an amazing hostess and was known for her elaborate theme parties. She also loved to decorate, travel, cook, and volunteer. She was involved with many organizations including the PTA, Ducks Unlimited, Make A Wish Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, Republican National Committee, National Association of Accountants, and the entertainment committee for Village Walk. She was very social, loved to talk and met friends everywhere she went. Those who knew her would describe her as a firecracker; hilarious and entertaining, with a unique and fun-loving spirit. She was a very devoted Grandmother and will be fondly remembered as “Grammie.” She never missed singing Happy Birthday to you on your special day and was known for her outlandish grab bag gifts on Christmas Eve. She was certainly one of a kind. She will be cherished forever. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Wayne Jalbert of Danvers, MA and Suzanne and David Giroux of Tolland CT, and four grandchildren, Christopher Jalbert, Ryan, Danielle, and Alyssa Giroux. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Jean Blase, her special nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. Services for Gayle will be held privately for her family. In lieu of flowers, please “Pay It Forward” in her memory – perform a small act of kindness for another. This would serve as the ultimate final tribute to the amazing woman that was loved by so many.

  1. What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful person! I am grateful I got to witness Gayle’s love, devotion, and fun spirit on many occasions. Sue & Kathy definitely inherited her charisma and charm! Prayers to you both Sue & Kathy, to Grammie’s loves, and to everyone who was touched by this amazing woman. I promise to “pay it forward” in her honor.

  2. Blessed beyond words to have had both Gayle and Donnie in my life. This is the last picture I have with them, in Sarasota.

  3. Gayle was an amazing person with a larger-than-life personality. She had such a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. She always made me feel at home when we visited her in Gloucester and I enjoyed listening to her stories when I saw her at family events. She had such a beautiful soul. She certainly will be missed. I hope she is in heaven sharing stories and laughs with my Mom. Hugs.
