George Elliott Moore, 73, passed away suddenly Monday, December 5, 2016 at Beverly Hospital. Born in Gloucester on Sept. 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Warren E. Moore and the late Eleanor B. (Shackleford) Moore. Raised and educated in Gloucester, he was a 1963 graduate of Gloucester High School. He earned his journeyman’s electrician license in 1967 through IBEW Local 103 and was employed through the union for many years as well at the former United Shoe Manufacturing Corp. and GTE Sylvania. A longtime member of Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Danvers, George served on many committees, as a youth group leader, and member of the Men’s Club. He enjoyed playing cribbage and pool, bowling, and woodworking. For many years, he was a coach with Beverly Youth Soccer. He also enjoyed caring for his cat, Suzy. In his later years, he could be seen around Beverly on his scooter and loved to socialize with anyone he met along his way. He will be missed by many. His family is grateful for the many healthcare professionals that made a difference in his life. He leaves his wife, Sharon (Knowlton) Moore, his daughter, Laureen Crosbie and her fiancé Kevin Ayotte, his son, Jason Moore, his daughter-in-law, Sandra Eliezer Moore, his cherished grandchildren, Jenna and Jacob Crosbie and Cooper and Madison Moore, his sister-in-law and her husband, Shirley and Charles Theriault, his stepmother, Arline (Young) Moore, his siblings, Lois Croft, Judith Stephens, Nancy Fortunato, and Robert Moore and their families. His Funeral Service will be Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at 9AM in Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7PM also in Holy Trinity United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923. Arrangements are by C.R.   1. George was a kind and generous person, He especially loved his cat Suzy. George and my family dog aka “Louie dog” were friendly. George enjoyed being around his friends at Apple Village. My deepest condolences to the family.

  2. We will miss him greatly at Apple Village. He was loved so much here. He was also a great inspiration for all how new him. He will be missed at our morning “Walks”. Rest in peace George.
