Born in: Salem, Massachusetts
Resided in: Danvers, United States

Gerald A. Clark, 81, of Danvers, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home. He was the beloved husband of Beatrix M. (Gesek) Clark, with whom he shared 58 years of cherished marriage.

Son of the late Winston and Marjorie (Calder) Clark, he was born in Salem on July 11, 1943. After graduating from Salem High School, he embarked on a successful career in electronics, serving as a Telecom Manager for the U.S. Department of Defense. He then started Telephony Northeast, which led to the founding of Homisco, a telecommunications company, in 1981. More recently, he was a member of the Danvers democratic committee with his wife.

Gerald had an insatiable technical curiosity and a passion for tinkering. He was a prolific inventor, holding several patents for his innovative contributions to telecommunications. His interests extended beyond electronics to include automobiles, target shooting, RC helicopters, and communication worldwide as a ham radio enthusiast. He loved to share his knowledge of the mystery of how things functioned.

As a father, Gerald instilled a deep appreciation for the natural world in his children. He shared his love for the White Mountains of NH, climbing, and skiing with his family. He led his son’s Boy Scout troop on exciting nature adventures, helping them foster a respect for the environment. He was always ready to share stories about his pet crow, whom he trained as a young boy.

Gerald leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife, Beatrix, and their three sons and their wives: James and Diane Clark of Georgia, Peter and Irina Clark of Ipswich, and Michael and Lauren Clark of West Newbury. He was a proud grandfather to four beloved grandchildren: Addison, Skyler, Eva, and Emmy. Numerous nieces and nephews will deeply miss him. Gerald was predeceased by his dear sister, Marilyn McKinnon.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Dear Bea and Family,
I feel lucky to have known Gerry and to have benefited from his wonderful nature, unfailing willingness to lend a hand, and his far-reaching wisdom. He knew so much about so many things, and livened the discussions at our Democratic Town Committee meetings and events humbly. His devotion to you, Bea, was so sweet to witness. He set a remarkable example for us all, and he will be greatly missed.
    Thinking of you all.

    • Sally, thank you for those wonderful words and memories of my dad. I know he enjoyed his time with the committee and the people he knew there, that was a special moment of his life and I know he cherished it. Thank you!

  2. Mr. Clark was one of my favorite people in the world. I have many fun memories laughing with him and learning from him. We did everything from scouting to skiing, hiking, tinkering with cars, radios, explosives. My love of photography was enhanced by his darkroom that Peter and I took over at one point.

He lives in my memories and I look forward to seeing him in the next life.

  3. Thoughts and prayers to Bea and her family, as well as, my other cousins. Enjoyed getting together during the holidays and doing things with Gerald and the family. Enjoyed our in-depth conversations on various topics, politics, and hobbies/traveling events. He will be missed by all. I’m sorry we are unable to attend the funeral. OX Mary and Jeff deCoen

  4. I was so fortunate to have grown up on Moffatt Road in Salem, just a few houses down from the Clarks. Mr. Clark was the smartest, coolest, hippest dad in the neighborhood, and he and Mrs. Clark had a significant impact in my life. Whether it was dissecting a frog at their kitchen table, nearly starting a fire in their kitchen while making sand cast candles with the Cub Scouts or experimenting with fireworks and black powder cannons in the backyard and neighborhood woods, there was great fun to be had at the Clarks’. Mr. Clark inspired my love of the outdoors and hiking in the White Mountains, Skiing (at Gunstock), sports cars, and attempting to repair anything mechanical or electronic. I hope that the greatest honor I can give him was to share much of that experience and inspiration with my own kids and their friends. Thank you, Mr. Clark…well done.

  5. Hello Bee and family, so sorry for your loss. The obituary so well described Gerald in so many ways. That’s who he was.

Blessings to you all, your in our prayers.
