Gregory V. George

Gregory V. George, 58, a longtime Peabody resident, died Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the loving husband of Darlene L. Trachtman-George, with whom he shared thirty-five years of marriage.
Born in Lynn on Feb. 13, 1964, he was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. He furthered his education by obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
Greg worked in the Department of Public Works for the City of Peabody until moving on to the City of Newton, where he worked as Assistant Superintendent of Utilities. Following his career in public works, he was employed as a truck driver with International Transportation, where he loved going to work every day.
Greg was a dedicated and loving father to his son and enjoyed coaching him and many Peabody children both hockey and baseball. He was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan and a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son Brandon George and his fiancée, Mel, his grandson Alex-joseph, and his sister Cindy. He was predeceased by his mother Laura (Whippen) Brown and his brother Lee Hardenbrook.
Greg’s funeral service will be Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8PM in the funeral home.
