Helio M. Ortins

DANVERS- Helio M. Ortins, 67, passed away on June 18, 2023, in Mass General Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Maria (Silva) Ortins with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. Born on the island Graciosa in Azores, Portugal on March 4, 1956, he was the son of the late Joao and Diamantina (Senes) Ortins. Helio moved to the United States in 1975 and had been a longtime resident of Danvers. Helio was a member of the Holy Ghost Society of Peabody and Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. Helio was happiest when he was surrounded by his grandchildren and daughters, tending to his peach trees, and talking about his favorite place, Graciosa. Helio enjoyed eating figs on the patio in Graciosa while watching the ocean. He was very proud of his culture and was grateful that he was able to walk his three daughters down the aisle. In addition to his wife, Maria, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Philip Hennessey of Danvers, Sandy and Andrew Hounsome of Georgetown and Jessica and Michael Bosse of Salem, his brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Connie Ortins of Peabody, four grandchildren, Jackson, Thomas and Julia Hennessey and Lucas Hounsome, his in-laws, Eugenia and Joao Silva of Peabody, Joao Silva and his partner Maria of Peabody and his mother in law Eugenia Silva of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Joao and Filomenia Ortins. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Sylvan St., Danvers. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, June 23, 2023 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
