Henry M. Holmes

Henry M. “Chick” Holmes, 90, of Boxford, formerly of Saugus, died Monday, February 16, 2015 at his home in Boxford. He was the husband of the late Constance M. (Simmons) Holmes.
Born in Melrose on July 4, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Angelina Holmes. He was raised and educated in Saugus and Melrose and was a 1942 graduate of Melrose High School. He later attended Bentley College. Mr. Holmes served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, where he was stationed in the South Pacific.
A longtime Saugus resident, he had been employed for many years at the GE Riverworks plant in Lynn, and then at DataCard in Braintree until the time of his retirement.
He was a longtime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Saugus, and in more recent years was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Groveland. He enjoyed bowling and golfing, and was proud of his hole-in-one at the Mount Hood Golf Club.
He leaves three sons, Donald and his wife Karen of West Newbury, Robert of Fayetteville, AK, and Kenneth and his fiancée Kathleen Connly of Middleton, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
His Funeral Service will be Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at 10:30AM in Saint James Episcopal Church, 121 Washington St, Groveland. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint James Church Organ Fund, 121 Washington St., Groveland, MA 01834.
