Irene E. Ayles

Irene E. (Peterson) Ayles, 92, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014. She was the wife of the late Richard G. Ayles.
Daughter of the late John E. and Margaret (Downing) Peterson, she was born in Danvers in 1921. She attended Danvers schools and graduated with honors from Holten High School in 1939.
She leaves her son, Christopher Ayles and his wife Susan of Danvers and her daughter Patricia Adams of Salem and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert, Arthur, and John Peterson Jr. and her sisters Elenore Riddle and Phyllis Peterson.
Irene loved to read, garden, and knit. She was an avid crossword puzzler and journal keeper. A member of the Civil Air Patrol during WWII, she spent many evenings in the tower at Sylvania.
Her Graveside Service will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10AM in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., West Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited. As requested, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.

The memorial service and reception were a lovely tribute to Irene. I have good memories of talking and corresponding with Irene when I was researching the family tree.
