Irene J. (Pero) Fazio, 93, died peacefully on December 12, 2024. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Fazio, who died just forty-two days earlier.
Born in Salem on May 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John and Augustine (Carrier) Pero. She was raised in Salem and was a graduate of Salem Vocational High School.
Irene worked as a bookkeeper for many years at her husband’s business, Boston Street Auto Body in Salem. She also owned and operated Carriage House Antiques on Putnam Street in Danvers for many years.
A Danvers resident since 1955, she was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church where she was a member of Court Henry A. Sullivan, Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Devoted to her family, Irene enjoyed doing genealogical research and writing short stories.
She leaves three children, Monica Dotolo of Hampstead, NH, Angelo Fazio and his wife Grace of Santa Ana, CA, and Francine Fazio and her fiance Michael MacMillan of Fremont, NH, her grandchildren, Jeffrey Dotolo and his wife Tracy, Jessica McPhail and her husband Jay, Christine McKenney and her husband Kevin, Suzanne Quigley, Justine Maguire and her husband Matthew, Stefanie Hayes and her husband Jon, and Katie Rose Fazio, her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Vincent, Andrew, Ben, Ava, Annie, Tyler, Callie, Joelle, Evelyn, Pierce, and Dylan, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Napoleon, Albert, and William, and Adele Pero, Yvonne Boudreau, Eva Lavoie, Rose Pelletier, Doris Mackey, Beatrice Hall. Her son-in-law, Ronald Dotolo, died just a few days after her own passing.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11:00a.m. in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be prior to the Mass from 10:00a.m. until 10:45a.m. in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
