James M. Cote

James M. Cote, 57, of Danvers, died suddenly at home on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. He was the loving husband of Beth A. (Sanphy) Cote, with whom he shared thirty-one years of marriage.
Born in Salem on December 14, 1964, he was the son of Doris (Saucier) Cote of Danvers and the late Carl Cote. A lifelong Danvers resident, he was a 1983 graduate of Saint John’s Preparatory School. A proud “Double Eagle,” Jim graduated from Boston College in 1987 and Boston College Law School in 1990.
Jim practiced law on the North Shore for over thirty years where he operated his firm, Cote Law.
An avid and talented golfer, he was a member of the Kernwood Country Club in Salem. He was a longtime season ticket holder at Boston College, where he enjoyed watching football with his beloved father.
He loved family trips to Walt Disney World with family and friends. He was especially faithful to his family, and anyone who met him quickly learned that his girls were the lights of his life.
In addition to his wife and mother, Jim leaves two daughters, Stacey Cote of Marblehead and Annie Cote of Nahant, a brother, Stephen Cote and his wife Karen Pickett of North Reading, a sister, Karen Anderson of Danvers, his mother-in-law, Carol Sanphy of Nahant, his brothers-in-law, Charles Sanphy Jr. and his wife Geraldine, Brian Sanphy and his wife Donna, Mark Sanphy and his wife Nicole, Matthew Sanphy, and Joel Sanphy, his sisters-in-law, Caron Sanphy, Stacey Kasper and her husband Steve, and Maureen Sanphy and her partner Beverly Carr, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited. All other services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, P.O. Box 2076, Danvers, MA 01923. In St. Marys i met a friend named Steve Cote, next year i met another friend named Jim Cote. from then on our sleepovers were epic and i remenber playing photo football at the Cotes all night long and maybe then playing street hockey at St Richards parking lot. Love you Jim!
