James M. Femino, 97, passed away following a brief illness at Salem Hospital on June 1, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann (Cronin) Femino.

Born and raised in Salem, James was the son of the late James and Frances (Rizzotti) Femino. He attended Salem High School and after graduating he entered the United States Army.

James moved to Danvers in 1960. From there he started a successful career as the owner of Salem Liquors, a longtime Salem fixture. After selling his store, he worked part-time at Steve’s Quality Liquors in Salem. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Aruba and Nassau. His passion was playing craps at Foxwoods/Encore, attending horse racing at Suffolk Downs, playing cards at the Christopher Columbus Club in Salem and the ICC in Beverly. An avid sports fan who especially loved rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots.

He is survived by two daughters, Judith Femino of Saugus and Susan Malley and her husband Mark of Danvers, his grandchildren Michael Malley and his wife Emily Suther of Reading and Jennifer Sartanowicz and her husband Derek of Stoneham, three great grandchildren Charlotte, Brooks and Maya, his sister Margaret Myers and her husband Ellis of FL, and his long-time companion Margaret Labrecque and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 10-11AM on Monday, June 8, 2026 in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers, his funeral service will immediately follow at 11AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’ name to St. Jude Children Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org.
