Sending our aloha and prayers to our entire Ohana on the East Coast. Auntie Janesta could light up a room with her smile, her humour and her loving personality. It was an honour to have her in Seattle during one of the hardest times in our lives but she kept everyone smiling and her caring heart took care of all of us. She taught everyone a specific lesson that helped all of us in our lives and it primarily was,”love yourself and don’t worry what others think about you.” I was happy that she was able to see and support my love for hula and experience with me and my Ohana such a festive event. I love you Auntie Janesta and I will continue to follow my heart and never be ashamed of what path love leads me down. I will continue to look at the world with my eyes wide open and accept all those for who they are….just like you taught me.
Malama Pono- Your Niece, Candace M. Melendez (Marticio)
