Joan M. Cassidy

Joan M. (Ruest) Cassidy, 88, formerly of Danvers, died Monday, November 18, 2024 following a period of declining health.  She was the wife of the late Arthur J. Cassidy, her high school sweetheart, who predeceased her in 2016. 

Born in Danvers on February 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Weldon) Ruest.  She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School. 

Joan had worked as a bookkeeper at Marblehead Chemical. 

A resident of Bartlett, NH for more than thirty years, Joan loved boating, travel, and golf.  During the winter, she and Art enjoyed traveling to warmer climates in their RV. 

She leaves a daughter, Joan Woods of Danvers, a granddaughter, Jill Bittner and her husband Daniel of Danvers, a grandson, Robert Woods of Quincy, and two great-grandchildren, Ella and Foster.  She was predeceased by her son, Joel Cassidy, just one month ago. 

Her Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11:00a.m. in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.  Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are invited.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00a.m. until 10:45a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.  Guestbook available at www.LyonsFuneral.com.
