JOAN TIERNEY

TIERNEY (RILEY), JOAN A.. – OF DANVERS- Joan Anne (Riley) Tierney, 74, passed away July 17, 2009 at Beverly Hospital. She was the wife of Ronald Tierney with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Oceanside, New York on June 10, 1935, she was the daughter of John and Florence (Short) Riley. She was raised and educated on Long Island, NY. She moved to Danvers over 37 years ago. Mrs. Tierney was a communicant of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and reading, especially medical books. She was a loving grandmother, mother and wife. Besides her husband, Ronald, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gregory of Boston and Kevin and Sabra Tierney of Danvers, a daughter and son-in-law Daryl and Jay Barta of Georgetown, four grandchildren, Kaela and Scott Barta and Brandon and Ryan Tierney, and several nieces and nephews survive her. She was predeceased by seven siblings. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Wed., July 23, 2009 in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Vst. hrs are Tues. from 4PM-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
