Joanne F. Prescott
August 11, 1957 ~ January 31, 2024
Joanne F. Prescott, 66, a longtime Danvers resident and a person of immense kindness and artistic talent, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln.
Born in Salem on August 11, 1957, to the late Albert and Lucy Dion, Joanne's early life in Danvers laid the foundation for a life characterized by warmth, creativity, and dedication.
Joanne earned her associate degree from North Shore Community College and worked at Travelers Insurance earlier in her life, where she was known for her professionalism and warmth.
Her love for painting and drawing was not just a hobby but a reflection of her view of the world – vibrant and full of beauty. Those who knew her admired her for her enormous heart. Joanne was the kind of person who would literally give you the shirt off her back, a testament to her selfless nature.
A connoisseur of collectibles and a devoted cat lover, Joanne found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her home in Danvers was not just a house but a place filled with love, art, and the contented purring of a cat.
Joanne's legacy is carried on through her family, who were the centerpiece of her life. She was the loving and devoted mother of Gary Prescott and his wife, Christina, of Peabody, and a cherished Nana of Tyler Prescott, also of Peabody, who was the light of her life. She was the dear sister of Marie Flint, and her husband, Stephen, of Danvers and Paul Dion, and his wife, Deborah, of Windham, NH, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who felt her love and warmth. She also leaves several dear friends, especially at Element Care PACE, where she was loved like family. Joanne's was predeceased by her brother, Bert Dion, and her longtime partner, Jack Rowell.
Her Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11AM in Annunciation Cemetery, 155 Hobart St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. What a lovely soul she was! I enjoyed talking with her at PACE. Rest in peace, my friend.
I am a friend of Marie (Flint”s) from many, many years ago. I was amazed to see a pic of me in this video. It meant so much to me that after all these years, I was connected to this sweet girl. Your tribute to Joanne was the most beautiful I have ever seen. Such care you took making it, even down to her beloved cats. It surely shows how much you all loved your beautiful Joanne.
