Joanne L. (Ledoux) Gentile, 91, passed away on January 11, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late James Gentile with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Salem on August 19, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Moran) Ledoux, and sister of the late John and Joseph Ledoux. Joanne was raised and educated in Salem and graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1950 from Salem High School. She had a long career as a registered nurse after graduating from the Salem School of Nursing. Joanne had been employed as a nurse with the former Shaughnessy Hospital, Salem Hospital, Baldpate Hospital and the Beverly Public Schools. She also worked as an administrative assistant in her brother’s law office, Ledoux, Whipple and King. Joanne loved to socialize and would make strong connections everywhere she went, throughout her 53 years in Boxford, MA and her 5 years at Brightview and most recently at Mountain View Community. She was immediately loved by every baby and every dog she ever met. She also enjoyed the beach, knitting and was an avid reader. She is survived by her children, Cathy Sedler and her husband Dean of Wolfeboro Falls, NH and John Gentile and his wife, Mary of Milwaukee, WI, her brother Robert Ledoux and his wife Beverly of Danvers, and four beloved grandchildren, Carly Sedler and Nathaniel, Benjamin and Daniel Gentile and several nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in North Beverly Cemetery, Beverly. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
