Joel W. Foster, 68, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was the loving husband of Ruth (Cashman) Foster, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Born in Salem on Jan. 13, 1941, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Dooley) Foster. He was raised and educated in Salem and Danvers and had been a Danvers resident for over fifty years. He served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam era. For twenty-five years, Mr. Foster was employed by GTE-Sylvania and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He then owned and managed property in Salem for many years. An avid golfer, he enjoyed wintering with his wife in Florida. He was a member of the K of C Golf League and the Polish Club. He especially enjoyed spending the last twenty months with his beloved grandson. In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Joel Foster of Danvers, Julie Foster of Peabody, and Jodi Martin and her husband Cory of Danvers, a grandson, Greyson Martin of Danvers, a sister, Nancy Collin and her husband Thomas of NY, and a loving extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at 10AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
