John C. Sylvia

John C. Sylvia, 87, passed away on December 9, 2012, in Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of the late May (Peroni) Sylvia. Born in New Bedford on January 2, 1925, he was the son of the late John and Sophie (Ronan) Sylvia. John was raised and educated in New Bedford. He was employed with United Airlines as a purchasing agent and retired after over 40 years of employment. He is survived by his daughter; Deborah (Doyle) Conlon and her husband Dennis and his grandsons, Zachary and Max Doyle all of Middleton, two step-sons; Robert Beniers and his wife Betty of Quincy and Roger Beniers and his wife Karen of Rockland, grandchildren; Robert Beniers, Jr., Kathy Boncaldo, Jonathan Beniers, Julie Beniers, Michelle Miller, Andrea Beniers and extended family in the New Bedford area. He was predeceased by his former wife Marion (Simoes) Sylvia. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Friday, December 14, 2012 in St. Agnes Church, 22 Boston St., Middleton. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in John’s name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
