John F. Marshall
December 25, 1954 ~ September 27, 2022
John F. “Jack” Marshall, 67, a lifelong Danvers resident, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 after a great round of golf with friends while vacationing in Aruba. He was the beloved husband of JoAnn (Pydynkowski) Marshall, with whom he shared forty-three years of marriage.
Born in Beverly on December 25, 1954, he was the son of Alfred O. and Phyllis (St. Pierre) Marshall. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a 1972 graduate of Danvers High School.
Jack was employed for thirty-nine years at Eastern Propane until his retirement in 2020. Jack loved to work and be around people, so having a second job was not unusual for him. To put 3 kids through college comes with a price so for fifteen years he was a bartender at the Four66, and also worked for several years as a shoe-sprayer at the Sunnyside Bowl-A-Drome. Even in retirement he worked two jobs, which he described as the best retirement gigs in Danvers, at Putnam Pantry making candy and at Lyons Funeral Home, where he was heavily recruited and will be sorely missed.
A devoted father and mentor, Jack coached the “Amazing” Mets in Danvers National Little League and also coached and was past president of Danvers Youth Hockey.
Jack loved golf and listening to his favorite music on his Discman (even in 2022) but his favorite pastime was spending time with his three grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three children, Daniel Marshall and his wife Lauren of Beverly, Brian Marshall and his wife Jen of Peabody, and Jaclyn Marshall of Manchester, three cherished grandchildren, Brooke, Riley, and Lucas, a brother, Peter O. Marshall of Danvers, a nephew, Pete Marshall, a niece, Kellie Moulton, and a large extended family of Pydynkowski in-laws, cousins, nieces, and countless friends.
Visiting hours are Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. A service will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 at 10AM in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Ln., Gloucester, MA 01930.
