John F. Strangie
January 30, 1936 ~ July 9, 2024
John F. Strangie, Sr., a longtime Saugus resident, passed away on July 9, 2024, at Putnam Farms in Danvers, where he had resided for the last two years. He was the husband of the late Antonette L. (Pirone) Strangie, who predeceased him less than three months ago.
Born in Boston on January 30, 1936, John was the son of the late Frank and Josephine Strangie. Raised and educated in Brighton, he graduated from Brighton High School.
As a young man, John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later owned and operated C&H Electronics in Hudson, New Hampshire.
John’s love for his family was evident in everything he did. He treasured family barbecues and holiday dinners, and he found joy in the trips he took with his beloved wife, Antonette, to Florida, Aruba, and Italy. His greatest happiness came from spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness through his three sons: John Strangie, Jr. of Danvers; Philip Strangie and his wife, Teresa, of Tewksbury; and Mark Strangie and his wife, Terri, of Plymouth. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Carmasino of Peabody; nine grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife Brittany, Alexandra and her husband Evan, Joseph, Jack, Maria, Michael, Rachael, Christine, and Julia; and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte.
Family and friends are invited to his funeral service on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. at C.R. Lyons and Sons Funeral Directors, located at 28 Elm Street in Danvers Square. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 320 Nevada St. #201, Newton, MA 02460. Guestbook available at www.LyonsFuneral.com.
Mr. Strangie was a nice and funny man. He was one of the great parents we had in the neighborhood growing up. Mine and my wife’s condolences go out to John, Phil and Mark.

Uncle John, You will be missed. I will always remember the many Thanksgivings we spent together and all the wine you and I drank. I also remember how much my son wanted to come over your house (when he was little) because you had a ‘money tree’ in the back yard. Love, Steven
