Danvers-John “Jerry” Hutchins, 83, passed away on November 19, 2024. He was the husband of Debra (Sagan) Hutchins of whom he shared 30 years of marriage.

Born in Salem on January 10, 1941, he was the son of the late George Hutchins and the late Nellie (Gness)(Hutchins)Nickola. Jerry was raised and educated in Salem. He had a long career as a supervisor in the leather industry. Jerry played basketball in his younger years. He was an enthusiastic New England sports fan. Jerry also practiced martial arts and had a black belt in karate. He rode motorcycles most of his life, with his “biker buddies”. When he got married in 1994, he took his wife along for the rides. They always went to Laconia for bike week. Also vacationing in cabins along the lakes of northern New England. Jerry loved animals and usually always had a pet.

In addition to his wife Debra, he is survived by his children from a former marriage, Cheryl Bergeron, John Hutchins jr., siblings, George (Donnie) Hutchins, Diane Selecky, Roger Nickola, Jimmy Nickola, and Jerrys sister in law, Karen Sagan. He is also survived by his beloved dog, 17 yr old Layla. He was predeceased by his son Ronald Hutchins and sisters Joanie DeLeo and Beverly Ouellette.

His graveside service will be held at 11AM on Monday, November 25th, in Annunciation Cemetery, 155 Hobart St. Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave. Salem, 01970.
