DANVERS- John J. “Jack” Twomey, 92, passed away on August 8, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Marsha (Golter) Twomey. Born in Lynn on July 14, 1930, Jack was the son of the late Eugene and Catherine (Wall) Twomey. He was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in 1948. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Jack had been employed as a computer analyst for General Electric for 31 years. His family still uses old IBM punch cards from Jack’s career in the early days of computing. Jack and Marsha raised their four children in Danvers, opposite Brooksby Orchard on Andover Street, before moving in retirement to Rocky Hill Circle, near the Wenham line. Since October of 2021, Jack had resided at BrightView Senior Living, also in Danvers. Jack was known for his dutifulness, propriety, generosity, and an almost religious devotion to punctuality. Although he was quite private, he was such a friendly, caring man that neighbors, caregivers, and even casual acquaintances always looked forward to seeing him. His family will miss his wry sense of humor. But they know he will be present whenever they gather with bakery sweets on the table. He is survived by his children, Dennis Twomey and his wife Kimberly of Limington, ME, Tracy Pang and her husband, Simon of Danvers, Thomas Twomey of Peabody and Jay Twomey and his wife Jackie Knapke of Cincinnati, OH, his grandchildren, Michelle (Chris) Russell, Allison (Ben) Leeman, Cassie Blanchette (Joe Nimon), Craig (Baylee) Blanchette and Leo Twomey, his great grandchildren, Wes, Rory, Georgia and Logan, and his brother James Twomey of Salem. Jack had a special bond with his niece Janet Guptill of Bradford, who cheered him with her frequent visits. He was predeceased by six siblings, Joseph, Eugene and Garrett Twomey, Catherine McCarthy, Alice McCarthy and Mary Gallagher. His Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be held from 10-11AM in the funeral home on Tuesday, prior to the service. Guestbook

  1. We were so sorry to learn of Jack’s death. Our deepest sympathies to Dennis, Jay, Tom, Tracy and the entire Twomey family. Jack was a wonderful and kind man who was respected and admired by all who knew him. Despite requiring a walker for his daily neighborhood walks these past few years, he always took time to stop and talk to his neighbors. Walker or not, if your empty bins and barrels were still at curb side on trash day, he would bring them to your garage door. He was a true gentleman and an excellent role model especially for his fellow senior citizen neighbors. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest In Peace Jack.

  2. Our deepest condolences to Jack’s family. We remember seeing Jack, Marsha and Tommy at many of Jim & Lil Twomey’s family events. We always enjoyed our conversations. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace Jack.

  3. Dennis, so sorry to hear about your dads passing. I still remember him from the Troop 155 Boy Scout days at St. Richards. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
