John J. Ray

John J. Ray, Jr., 86, of Danvers, passed away on December 4, 2020 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the beloved husband of June (Solomon) Ray with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Feb. 26, 1934, he was the son of the late John and Clara Ray. John was a Korean War Veteran and a proud Marine. He was national sales manager for Diamond Crystal Salt Company and founded Colonial Food Service which managed snack bars in the former Twin Rinks in Danvers and the Kasabuski Arena in Saugus. He was a loving father, an avid gardener and had a passion for golf which he shared as a coach at Saugus High School and St. John’s Prep.
In addition to his wife, June, he is survived by his daughter, Robbin Ray, and his son, John J. Ray III, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Anna, Helen and Ethel.
