June E. (Ferris) Wood, 92, died after a period a failing health at Seacoast Nursing & Rehab. in Gloucester where she received wonderful care by the caring staff there. The daughter of the late Myrtle (Hartman) and Chester Ferris, she was the wife of the late Donald T. Wood, with whom she shared forty years of marriage. She leaves her daughters, Donna Wallace and her husband Dick of Danvers and Linda Bonner and Bob Bonner of So. Winsor, CT and So. Carolina, her four grandchildren, Todd C. Wallace and his wife Eileen of Bedford, NH, Terry S. Wallace and his wife Susanne of Housatonic, Mark R. Bonner and Jenn Thompson of So. Carolina, and Jill Evans of So. Winsor, CT, her five great-grandchildren, Taylor and Cory Wallace, Katie and Kayla Evans, and George P. Wallace, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Barbara Newport and Robert Ferris. June and her husband were longtime members of Holy Trinity United Methodist Church. She was known as “Miss Ferris” and was a dancing teacher for many years in Danvers and surrounding towns. She taught tap, acrobatic, ballet, and ballroom and was thrilled when she was remembered by her former students. Her graveside service will be private at the request of her family. In her memory, donations may be made to Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923 or, in honor of her great-grandson George, to Special Olympics, 100 Conifer Hill Dr., Danvers, MA 01923.
