Kenneth J. Curtis
November 25, 1943 ~ September 10, 2022
Kenneth J. Curtis, of Danvers, passed away on the morning of Saturday, September 10, 2022.
Ken leaves his beloved wife, Alice, his 6 children, Kenneth Curtis Jr. and his wife Ari, Michael Curtis and his wife Lisa, Colleen Brooks and her husband Robert, Brian Curtis and his wife Tara, Meghan Curtis, and Mark Curtis, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, his older brother, younger sister, and numerous family members and friends.
A lifelong student, he was a role model for doing the right thing, especially when it was hard to do. He was a devout Catholic and shared the values of his faith with his children. He enjoyed sharing his views on bible stories, sometimes with the priest after Mass.
Ken was ever present in his children’s lives, from coaching them to cheering them on in sports, careers, and everyday occurrences. He set high expectations and supported his children in meeting their goals.
He set similar expectations as a teacher and administrator at Lynn Classical High School, Lynn English High School, Marshall Middle School, and Breed Middle School. He loved working with students and cared about their academic and life success as if they were their own children. There were numerous occasions in which former students stated that they only graduated due to Ken’s care and support in helping them succeed.
Always honest and up front with those he encountered, he shared his opinion freely. His love and caring will live on through all who knew him.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 9AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. At Ken’s request, there are no visiting hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer’s Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Dr., P.O. Ken was one of my mentors. He taught me so much about how to deal with a variety of students. He was always firm and fair. I also learned a lot about powderpuff football! It was a pleasure to coach with him but never against him!
Ken really taught me how to be a better teacher and for that I am always grateful.
Kathy and I will be praying for you all.

Kenny was truly one of a kind! He was a great administrator and I am so glad to have known him and worked with him at TMMS. May he rest in peace and love. Maureen Walker
I worked with your dad at English High School and always told him he should run for principal. His reputation from Classical was A= for the job he had done. He was a man with many ideas and I always enjoyed talking to him. So sorry for your loss. Richard McGuinness
Mr. Curtis was that one teacher that left his handprint on the heart of so many. He was committed to see his students succeed and was committed to helping us achieve our goals. He was one that cared about our happiness and well-being and life beyond the classroom. He did not make it a secret that he cared but always went the extra mile. Motivating students by encouraging them, rewarding them with a note and praise and getting them involved showing them he was vested. His encouragement, honesty, and faith is something he so freely shared during our many conversations. Over time we had lost touch, but I often think about him and kept him in my prayers all these years. May the angels welcome him home and may he rest in peace. I am sorry for your loss. “We grieve because we love. How lucky we are to have experienced that love.”
I’m remembering Mr. Curtis walking into our classroom with his corduroy jacket on in the winter months. Always with a smile on his face. Funny the things you remember about one …. corduroy jacket & a smile. He was one of my favorite teachers. I graduated with the Class of 71 from Classical but also remember him from Breed. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace. Elaine (Barrett) Schipillliti
Dear Alice and Family,
Ken was an important part of my introduction to Middle School, from the first day entering the parking lot at Marshall. I came from a Parochial background to experience Public School.
He answered many questions, offered corrections and his dry humor was something to get used to. We got along great, respected his suggestions, and everything went smooth.
Alice & Meg, to you, I’m glad we met when we did, you showed me the humorist side of Kenny. He caught me standing on radiators and windowsills, many times, and reminded me “not to jump.”
Forever in thoughts and prayers,
Mary Richard
So sorry to hear this sad news. I worked with Ken at Marshall; he was a wonderful person.

My sincerest condolences.
