Kenneth L. Gilford

Kenneth L. Gilford, 75, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, August 12, 2010. Born in Danvers on Aug. 17, 1934, he was raised and educated in Danvers and served in the US Army Reserves. He had been a longtime Ipswich resident. Mr. Gilford was employed for many years as a builder, doing custom carpentry throughout the North Shore. He enjoyed chopping wood and spending time with his friends and family at the Agawam Diner. He leaves six children, Mary Williams and her husband Paul of Rowley, Joan Marfongelli of Salem, Kathi Desmond and her husband Kevin of Ipswich, Kenneth Gilford and his wife Nancy of Clearwater, FL, Timothy Gilford and his wife Donna of Georgetown, and Theodore Gilford and his wife Lea of Merrimac, his sister, Eleanor Buker, 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his wife, Martha Gilford. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Conant. Visiting hours are Sunday, Aug. 15 from 4-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Following cremation, all are invited to a graveside service on Tuesday, Aug 17 at 10AM in Holten Cemetery, Holten St., Danvers.
