Lena M. (Citroni) Toomey, 89, died Friday, March 5, 2010 in Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Francis J. “Bud” Toomey, Jr., with whom she shared forty-four years of marriage until his death in December. Born in Danvers on January 20, 1921, she was the daughter of Louis and Donata (Leone) Citroni, she was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School. A lifelong Danvers resident, Mrs. Toomey was employed as a sales clerk in several fine lady’s clothing stores in the North Shore Mall. A communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, she and her husband enjoyed traveling by car when they were younger. She is survived by a brother, Roland Citroni and his wife Norma of Danvers, two brothers-in-law and their wives, James and Evangeline Toomey and John and Patricia Toomey, all of Danvers, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Antoinette Murphy and Joseph, Gerard, Carlo, Zeke, and Mingo Citroni. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Donations in her memory may be made to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, PO Box 2076, Danvers, MA 01923.
