DANVERS – Leonard James Comeau, 84 passed away on October 29, 2015 in the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers. He was the loving husband of Marie T. (Frisone) Comeau with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Born in Lynn on April 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and M. Celeste (LeBlanc) Comeau. He was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Saint Mary's High School in 1949. He earned his Associates Degree from Lowell Institute. He served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He had been employed for 36 years as a Design Draftsman at the Air Force Geophysics Laboratory in Bedford, retiring in 1992. Lennie enjoyed spending winters in Venice, Florida. He loved golf, bowling, bocce, horseshoes, dancing and traveling. Lennie was a huge Boston sports fan. He was a member of the Danvers Senior Center bocce team. Besides his wife, Marie, he is survived by four children, Mary-Ellen Smiley and her husband Douglas of Peabody, Patrice Underwood and her husband Gary of Danvers, Sharon Dwelley and her husband Joseph of Holden, and Michael Comeau of Lynn, seven grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Lauren and Shannon Underwood, Christine Smiley and Catherine and Ryan Dwelley. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass on Tuesday from 10AM – 10:45 AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Leonard's name to The Boston Higashi School for Autism, Attn: Development Office, 800 N. Main St., Randolph, MA 02368 or Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
