Leslie G. Jillson

Leslie G. Jillson, Jr., 78, passed away on January 8, 2015 in Hunt Nursing Home, Danvers. He was the husband of Mary (LaJoie) Jillson with whom he shared twenty-six years of marriage. Born on Sept. 18, 1936, he was the son of the late Leslie G. and Grace (DiMaggio) Jillson. He had resided in Lynn for many years. Leslie retired as a Chief Petty Officer after twenty years of service with the United States Navy. He was also a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Upon retirement from the Navy, he was employed in the distribution center of the United States Postal Service in Woburn. Leslie enjoyed bowling, chess, playing horse shoes and watching horse racing. Besides his wife, Mary, he is survived by four step-daughters, Lisa Murray of Saugus, Michelle Murray Mendez of Danvers, Danielle Murray of Lynn and Amy Murray of Revere, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, three siblings, Dorothy Heckbert of Norton, Alida O’Grady of Lynn and Robert Jillson of Brockton and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John Jillson. His Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-10:45AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Leslie’s name to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA, 01701.
